The new Olympic National Park quarter, the eighth issue of the series, and third design for 2011, is now in circulation. On Tuesday, June 14, 2011, the official launch ceremony for the new Olympic quarter took place at the City Pier in Port Angeles, Washington.
Port Angeles is the largest city on the Olympic peninsula and the gateway to Olympic National Park. The park’s main visitor’s center is located in this town. After the ceremony, the mint held a coin exchange and children received new quarters, featuring a Roosevelt elk in the foreground with Mt. Olympus in the background.
