Candidate designs for the Shawnee National Forest quarter
In late 2014, both the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee and the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed several candidate designs for the reverse of the 2016 Shawnee National Forest quarter.
The CCAC divided their support between two designs, each depicting a different view of Camel Rock – a sandstone formation in Garden of the Gods. One of these two designs, showing a closer view, was supported by the CFA.
